Kees and Cindy are On Safari - Update 9th July

We are very thankful for your prayers and support as we travel and work at these seminars. Truly God has blessed us; it has been an incredible time. To have churches packed and the people so thirsty to hear about God’s plan of marriage. Many marriages have been changed and are continuing to be changed.

We have been watched over as we drive, one near miss with a cow, and just one puncture in over 1,300 km of some extremely bad roads, many of which were just bicycle tracks and took us an hour to travel 24 km. BUT the welcome we received in these villages was amazing! We have at least 3 weddings we have been requested to be there for and for Kees to preach, we are just trying to organise it all.

We did not make it clear in our itinerary that in Igagala we stayed in the one place and again in Usinge. This made it easier for us as we had a base to work from. We stayed with the teacher in Usinge, in his new house, as the only guest house in town was said to be too noisy now. We had many restful sleeps for which we thank God.

Health has been incredible, just the one bout of vomiting for Kees but we must have stopped praying for health when we got to Kigoma as we were both very sick the night we arrived! But we have had a wonderful week of rest. We ended up eating here as the meals were reasonably priced and we just had soup for lunch, this was especially good when our tummies were recovering! Cindy has really enjoyed the pool and we have had many swims in the beautiful pool. The hotel is perched on the top of the cliff overlooking Lake Tanganyika.

We have been able to spend time with Bishop Ndenza and his family. Tomorrow we travel to Kasulu for 3 nights and then back to Urambo. It had been planned to go to Ushirombo but the Rural Dean there felt that our visit was too close to the bishop’s confirmation safari. We had planned this in February with him and he had the Bishop’s plans in April but it was only when 2 weeks ago I phoned him to confirm the dates that he told us. Fortunately the RD of Urambo was more than happy for us to stop there on our way home. This does mean that we will not yet make the trip to Mwanza to fix our rear diff, but it seems to be going ok!

We do one more seminar, of two days in Igagala. Nashoni asked if we could repeat the seminar there as many people missed it!! We’ll be there 13th and 14th July. Spend one day in Kaliua, to charge up the batteries, ours and the computer etc and then on 16th go to Urambo. .
